Pyrolysis Technology – The Most Thorough and Value-Maximizing Method for Scrap Tire Treatment

Tire recycling operations and scrap tire treatment technologies have been developing for many years. End-of-life tires from vehicles can be processed through retreading, the production of reclaimed rubber or rubber powder, or pyrolysis. Retreading can only be applied to certain tires and for a limited number of cycles; the production of reclaimed rubber and rubber powder can be used to manufacture rubber products, among other applications. These methods can only recycle scrap tires a limited number of times. Pyrolysis, however, is known as the “ultimate method” for comprehensive scrap tire utilization because of the thoroughness of its treatment, representing a sustainable tire recycling approach.

The industrial practices of industry-leading companies such as Niutech powerfully demonstrate the maturity and immense potential of pyrolysis technology as it moves from the laboratory to the global market.

Through pyrolysis, a single waste steel-belted tire can produce fuel oil, carbon black, steel wire, and combustible gas, achieving nearly 100% utilization of the scrap tire. This meets the goal of turning tire waste into resources while delivering significant economic value.

“Stable continuous operation” is a widely recognized technical challenge in the pyrolysis industry. Hampered by technical bottlenecks such as “equipment coking, difficulties in dynamic sealing during feeding and discharge, and product polymerization,” most systems cannot meet the demands of industrial continuous operation, with actual production capacity generally falling below design specifications. Having focused on this field for nearly 40 years, Niutech has independently developed its “Key Technology and Equipment for the Resourceful Disposal of Scrap Tires via Industrial Continuous Pyrolysis.” By employing core technologies such as coking-free operation, gas-tight sealing, and anti-polymerization, it has successfully solved these industry pain points. Certified by national professional institutions as a domestic original innovation achieving internationally advanced standards, this technology is the key to the large-scale industrial application of pyrolysis. The entire tire pyrolysis process is safe and stable, and its operational viability has been validated through the successful implementation of multiple industrial projects.

Niutech’s technology and integrated equipment have obtained international authoritative certifications, including EU CE, German TÜV, ATEX explosion-proof, and ISCC International Sustainability and Carbon Certification. Niutech’s success lies not only in its technological breakthroughs but also in its ability to translate that technology into replicable, scalable industrial solutions and successfully penetrate global markets.

This has enabled its products to be exported to numerous countries and regions, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Brazil, Hungary, Turkey, and South Korea, making Niutech one of the few domestic suppliers of pyrolysis equipment capable of meeting stringent overseas technical requirements. Its mature solutions have been industrially implemented in dozens of countries worldwide.

Scrap tire pyrolysis technology, with its characteristics of thorough resource recovery and harmlessness, has become one of the optimal pathways for processing non-retreadable scrap tires. Its core value lies in transforming waste into recycled resources with clear market value, creating a new economic cycle. Niutech’s industrial cases prove that China’s environmental protection technologies are fully capable of providing world-leading solutions. As the global circular economy advances and China’s “zero-waste city” construction deepens, pyrolysis technology, represented by Niutech, is turning the environmental burden of the past into a new driving force for green development.
